Frequently Asked Questions

We know it can often be difficult to understand emergency lighting so we’ve put some frequently asked question together. Meaning you can ensure your staff and building users are going to be safe in the event of an emergency.

Can I test emergency lighting myself?

Daily visual checks should be carried out daily, looking out for any obvious signs of damage. Organisations should also carry out monthly tests ensuring that all lights are operational for a short period of time.

How long does an annual test take?

For a full test emergency lighting must remain working for 3 hours. This can be done around your property with minimal disruption.
