We offer a total fire extinguisher solution, addressing the specific fire risks of your premises and ensuring your compliance.
We are one of the very few fire extinguisher servicing companies in the UK who carries out a discharge test at 5 years. Whilst most servicing companies will simply scrap and replace all fire extinguishers at 5 years old, OHEAP will discharge them. They are then inspected for corrosion or erosion, refilled and commissioned for use for a further 12 months.
This process not only saves you money but reduces your carbon footpraint as waste is reduced and you can feel 100% assured your extinguishers are all in good working order, with minimumal waste.
All fire extinguishers supplied by us are British Standard Kite Marked to ensure quality and come with a 10-year guarantee as part of OHEAP Fire & Security’s maintenance services.

Commissioning & Installation
This requires an individual with extensive knowledge and certification from the British Standards, to unpack, assemble and carry out a service, this is called a commission service. It is carried out on each new extinguisher, the purpose is to inspect each extinguisher and undertake a series of checks to ensure it is in good working order, then to label the unit and certificate as correct.
As all OHEAP Extinguisher Engineers are, both British Standard qualified and BAFE registered, for third-party accreditation we’re highly qualified to act as that responsible person on your behalf.
Carried out by BAFE accredited engineers
Installed to British Standards
Carried out discreetly with minimum disruption
Extinguisher Servicing
An annual fire extinguisher service is required by law under the Regulatory Reform Act (2005). One of our trained engineers will visit your premises on a day of your choosing to thoroughly inspect your extinguishers and ensure they will work correctly in the event of a fire.
After five years, to comply with British Standard 5306, all fire extinguishers except CO2 extinguishers must have an extended service or be replaced. Unlike most companies, we are licensed to carry out extended servicing rather than replace the extinguishers at an additional cost to you.
Serviced inline with British Standards
Environmentally friendly
Carried out by BAFE accredited engineers

What Are The Main Types Of Fire Extinguisher?
There are five main fire extinguisher types:
Foam: Suitable for Class A and B fires. Limited electrical clearance
Carbon Dioxide: Suitable for Class B and fires involving electrical items.
Dry Powder: Suitable for Class A, B, C and electrical equipment
Wet Chemical: Suitable for Class A and F fires

How Often Should A Fire Extinguisher Be Checked?
Ensure your fire extinguisher is always ready when you need it by checking it regularly. In addition, monthly in-house checks should be conducted. We ensure that it is sited correctly, still has an anti-tamper device fitted and any gauge is reading correctly, is carried out and recorded.
All extinguishers require servicing by a professional company, e.g. OHEAP, once per year. Each extinguishing unit is tested in line with the current British Standards (5306) and certificated. Due to rigorous testing, extinguishers will be proven as compliant. With attention to BSI certification and third-party accreditation.
Finally, BAFE engineers are aware of all of the requirements necessary to meet compliance.
What Are The Main Classifications Of Fire?
As per the above, different types of extinguishers cover varying fires. In addition, extinguishers are assigned letters that denote what the classification is. Such as:
